The Basic Safety Rules for Fabrication and Field Construction have been developed by members of STI/SPFA to generally illustrate industry practice. In developing these Basic Safety Rules, STI/SPFA makes no judgment as to whether such industry practice reflects reasonable care. These materials merely set forth a general method by which personnel may gain a preliminary background concerning fabrication, field erection, and warehousing.

These basic safety rules are not in any manner to be construed as superseding or supplementing any OSHA Regulations or any other applicable federal, state or municipal laws, regulations and ordinances. Each employer has the responsibility to follow, and ensure that its employees comply with, the OSHA Regulations and all other applicable laws, regulations and ordinances concerning fabrication, field erection and warehousing, and employee training and safety in regard thereto.
