What’s In Your Pipe?: Navigating the Changes to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 (600)
Navigating the Changes to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 (600)
Presenters: Brian Cheshire, Gino Sincovich
Recent changes by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to Standards 60 and 61 have resulted in the creation of a new reference Standard 600. This companion standard has set new extractable levels for some of the commonly used solvents that have historically been used in many of the potable water coatings that have been used for many years in the marketplace. As a result, these new extraction limits have changed some of the options for coatings used to protect steel in immersion service.
This presentation will explain the changes to NSF Std. 61 and what they mean for potable water system owners and specifiers. Regulatory changes often precipitate new technologies, and this presentation will also present a data-based protocol for evaluating which coating systems to select and specify.
